Secure backup and archive

Secure backup and archive for files with a long life.

Some files are not working documents any more, but they still matter for a decade. Citadel is where those go.

What is a secure file archive?

Long-term storage for records you rarely touch but cannot lose: completed matters, filings, closed deals, historical financials and compliance records.

How is Citadel used for archiving?

Archive keeps files fully protected but out of your everyday view, so the vault stays clear while nothing is lost.

Is it a replacement for endpoint backup?

No. Keep your operational backup. Citadel is the protected home for the archive that would hurt most if it leaked or vanished.

Long-lived data has a different risk profile.

A document that must stay confidential for fifteen years has to survive fifteen years of improving attacks. Key-based protection applied today may not still be adequate then.

Distributed, meaningless fragments do not have that expiry problem.

Retrieval you can trust years later.

Each file records a checksum when it is stored, and every retrieval is verified against it, so you can prove that a ten-year-old record came back exactly as filed.

Capacity can be extended annually without moving your vault or changing file identities.

Questions people ask

How much capacity do I get?
Plans start at 2 TB, with 5 TB, 10 TB and 25 TB tiers, plus annual add-on capacity from 1 TB to 50 TB.
Are archived files still searchable?
Yes. Archive changes where files appear, not whether you can find them.
Can I download an entire archive folder?
Yes, as a single streamed download.
